My Fashion Board

Fashion is a major aspect of my life and I would love to start sharing it in this blog. So stay tune for more fashion post( outfits of the day, daily finds, shoes etc.)! Here are some people that have had a major influence on how I would love to dress.

1. LoveloveLoveloveLove..Solange's style! I love how she pairs items together that you would probably never necessarily do.Her ability to mix print so easily is so great!

2. Amber Riley is not afraid of showing her figure and I love that about her! I also like her use of color and don't get me started on her shoe game.

3. Kim Kardashian  makes everything looks chic without having that "I went through 20 outfits today just to find this one" look. She dresses so effortlessly and I love her blazers and scarves combos.

4. Ms.RiRi has a funky style with a bit of an edge. She pair pieces that are in your face without overdoing it.

5. Gwen Stefani walks to the beat of her own drum and is not afraid to express it. She is constantly reinventing herself whether its retro or punk.

An Ode to Protective Styling

 I know its been a while since I've posted but I am coming back with a bang(lol)! But since winter is here for a bit and I am hoping that the groundhog was right about spring being around the corner I had a chance to do some protective styling. 

The first two pictures above is a style that my sister did. She braided the sides and I two-strand twisted the other side w/some water, coconut oil, and Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Mask that I used more for styling than for deep treatment. The twist really turned out great( the photos really don't do it enough justice.)  But unfortunatley I am going to have to stop usng this praticular product from Shea Moisture since I just realized its been making my scalp very itchy and its because it has avocado oil in it and I am allegeric. Hopefully not all of Shea Moisture products have this because I really love the results minus the itchiness.

  These are my mini twist that I did in November where I just left some hair out in the ends added some gel and some water and these were the results. Next time I wont leave so much hair out in the end because they  shrunk a lot and made my hair look really short. And as time when on it started to look more and more like dreads which was not the look I was going for. But hey you gain some you loose some.

This style was a complete bust! ( Don't mind my crazy face in the second pic.) I had done some bantu knots in the front and had put the hair in the back for an up do but was not working out. So I just plopped on a beanie and called it a day. Hope all of you are keeping warm and if you have any ideas on protective styling I would love to hear about it. Leave a comment!

    As you guys may know or may not know I just recently finished  my bachelor's degree and is trying to figure out where this road is going to take me.In my line of work you have to know somebody that knows somebody to even get a step in the door. And the only way to do that is to get an internship and unfortunately for me you would be lucky if you found a paid internship now a days. Even though I am getting a lot of slack from  particular family members about what I'm doing I know that in the end I am the one who is going to have to deal with my career choices. But I rather be a person who loves what she's doing than a person who spends the rest of her life wishing she had just went with her heart.  I just wanted to say to all those recent graduates out their  to keep your head up!

Nothing Says It's Cold Like A Little Bit of Snow!

Snow storms! Snow storms! Snow storms!!! What can you say? I don't know about you guys but it has currently been snowing A LOT here in Jersey! You can either cry about it or put on some boots and gloves and accept it. And I personally chose to accept it. Even though I love the summer (don't get me wrong: sundresses, sunglasses, bbq's, sandals....the whole nine!) I love fall/winter fashion so much better because there is so much to choose from! Here are some shoes that I have already picked out outfits for ( insert spongebob grin).

Hair Inspirations/ New Years Resolutions

As the year is coming to an end  many of us take on the task of coming up with resolutions for the new year. But somehow these resolutions never seem to last past the first month. I am really hoping that this will not be my fate. So I thought I would share with you guys some of my New Years Resolutions.

1. Want to be more active and exercise more( maybe..dare I say..jog in the morning!)
2. Move on toward my career goals..getting an internship/job
3. Get APL(Arm Pit Length) or somewhere close to their by the end of 2011
4. Learn more about my hair needs
5. Blog more!!!
